Bear
2008 — 2021 · Dog · 13 years together
“A big dark shape who made the world feel safe.”
Bear was afraid of nothing except the garden hose. He weighed as much as I did and believed he was a lap dog. When I was sad he would lean his whole weight against my legs until I sat down. Thirteen years of being held up.

The leaning. That's how you knew he loved you.

Still the biggest heart in this garden.
Letters to the future
Some things are easier to say later. Seal a letter for Bear and choose the day it opens — it stays unread until then, even from this side of the garden.
No letters yet. The first one can be yours — a few lines for a date that does not exist yet.
